The Conference & Residency Center at White Oak and the Howard Gilman Foundation
The Howard Gilman Foundation’s Conference & Residency Center
at White Oak is located north of Jacksonville on the St. Mary’s
River in Yulee, Florida.
The focus of The Howard Gilman Foundation is in the areas of public policy, culture and the performing arts, and the maintenance of a renowned conservation program for endangered animal species at White Oak. In March 2007, White Oak was the site of the first planning retreat of the Clinton Global Initiative, led by former President Bill Clinton.
In 1982, Mr. Howard Gilman initiated a significant program for the conservation and propagation of threatened and endangered species in natural surroundings at White Oak. Since 1993, White Oak has been the site of national and international conferences dealing with a broad spectrum of issues, as well as residencies for performing arts groups. The private surroundings, on 7400 acres of pine and hardwood forests and wetlands, and premier facilities encourage exchange on an intellectual and interpersonal level.
